Click on the <strong>Leave a Comment hyperlink<\/strong> at the bottom\u00a0to open a text box.) <!--more--><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For those of you who recently purchased <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kurzweiledu.com\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Kurzweil<\/strong><\/a> (or already have it) and going through training,\u00a0 I&#8217;m attaching a doc with instructions of how the network folders and permission rights (<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2010\/04\/possible-folder-structure-for-sites-using-kurzweil.doc\" target=\"_blank\">CLICK HERE<\/a>) can be set up so you get maximum flexibility in managing the textbook or novel files.\u00a0 Further, it allows the opportunity to build lateral capacity with your colleagues as they can offer their classroom worksheets and assignments.\u00a0 Please speak to\u00a0the Tech Liaison at your school to create the folder structure with you.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2010\/01\/books_stack.jpg\"><!--more--><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-392\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2010\/01\/books_stack.jpg?w=100\" alt=\"\" width=\"93\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><strong>Developing Your E-Content<\/strong> (textbooks, novels, worksheets, assignments&#8230;) is the most time-consuming part of the process.\u00a0\u00a0 One way to do this is to access the resources from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arc-bc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ARC-BC<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 All LSS teachers can get access\u00a0by going through the district LSS training.\u00a0 <em>(*Please contact your district LSS teacher for details on April&#8217;s training date.)<\/em> ARC-BC continues to develop their learning objects and are willing to convert your textbooks (as long as you send them a copy of it).\u00a0 Already, the elementary\u00a0texts of Science and Social Studies and Language Arts-<em>Connections<\/em> are in .kes format.\u00a0 The elementary <em>Math Makes Sense<\/em> is in pdf.\u00a0 As well, there are many popular novels which the students can read (eg.\u00a0<em><span style=\"color:#333399\">Lightning Thief<\/span><\/em> &#8211; part of this year&#8217;s Battle of the Books list, <em><span style=\"color:#333399\">Artemis Fowl, Bridge to Terabithia, Charlie Bone, Chasing Vermeer, Eragon, Holes, Hoot<\/span><\/em>).\u00a0\u00a0 Incorporating e-novels into your literature circle (or language arts) conversations is\u00a0a powerful way to have students practice the same comprehension strategies that you use in\u00a0the classroom.\u00a0 By using Kurzweil, students who are at emergent\/novice levels of decoding have a chance to work with critical thinking skills with texts at their grade level.
