{"id":2210,"date":"2014-01-27T09:24:43","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T17:24:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/?p=2210"},"modified":"2014-01-26T14:29:25","modified_gmt":"2014-01-26T22:29:25","slug":"new-beginnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/new-beginnings\/","title":{"rendered":"New Beginnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A huge welcome to our new sites &#8211; South Slope, Marlborough, Buckingham, Burnaby South Access Program and Moscrop Access Program. \u00a0A great time of learning with all teams and we continue to have more gatherings in the near future to continue the conversation of supporting our students.<\/p>\n<p>The days of January have been whizzing by, partly due to the start of another term and partly due to our wonderful west coast weather. \u00a0Having some sun certainly invites a bit more energy in the steps as well as some hopeful signs of spring just around the corner.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that <strong>February 5th<\/strong> is \u00a0&#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Digital Learning Day<\/em><\/span>&#8220;? \u00a0Although we know that many of you already use technologies in seamless ways, this is a day designed to invite you to further participate in a little something special.\u00a0Maybe it&#8217;s a connection with a tool that allows for adaptation to happen on the spot allowing a full experience for students in class. Perhaps you may incorporate &#8220;text-to-speech&#8221; tools for those needing support in reading challenging texts or access ARC-BC for texts for <strong>Kurzweil<\/strong>. The flip to that would be &#8220;speech-to-text&#8221; tools for those writers struggling in written work. How about the use of QR codes (audio form)\u00a0to showcase\/share your work with books. \u00a0What about questions you post out using <strong>Soundcloud<\/strong>.\u00a0This month&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2014\/01\/news_2014-01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Learning Technologies newsletter<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is full of ideas for you to ponder and put into action. \u00a0Consider celebrating the day with a little something special. \u00a0Drop me a line and share your story.<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;m a huge fan of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fablevisionlearning.com\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Reynold<\/a>&#8216;s work, I love how he captured the ideas for digital learning.
