{"id":1671,"date":"2012-04-22T14:40:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-22T21:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/?p=1671"},"modified":"2012-09-23T14:07:08","modified_gmt":"2012-09-23T21:07:08","slug":"first-ever-ipad-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/first-ever-ipad-party\/","title":{"rendered":"First Ever iPad Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2012\/04\/partyballoons300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1672\" title=\"Clipart Illustration of a Bunch Of Floating Party Balloons With\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2012\/04\/partyballoons300-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2012\/04\/partyballoons300-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2012\/04\/partyballoons300-300x297.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/fastforword\/files\/2012\/04\/partyballoons300.jpg 354w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Get a group of administrators, teachers and district staff together &#8211; add food and boxes and more boxes of brand new iPads. \u00a0What do you have? \u00a0Excitement, anticipation, a bit of wonder, &#8220;eyes wide open&#8221;, tons of chatter and buzz&#8230; \u00a0 Last week, we spent the afternoon with a set of goals: introduce the iPad, configure the iPads for access and set up accounts, share a couple of handy apps (not too much) and a story of how this might look in a real classroom; interspersed with lots of adult play\/explore time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"line-height: 23px;\" title=\"ipad\" src=\"http:\/\/digisandbox.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/04\/ipad300.jpg?w=110\" alt=\"\" width=\"110\" height=\"150\" \/>Let me step back a bit in time&#8230; To say that a lot of coordination went on before this happened is an understatement. \u00a0Organizational structures such as set up of wifi access and accounts, Apple IDs, email accounts for budgeting, school processes for management (administrative and classroom), even what protective covers are best to address variety of environments, bulk purchasing, creating a sync apps process for multiple devices, staff learning (professional development), collaboration teams for sharing and learning were all considered. \u00a0We already had a number of these devices out in schools. With these numbers and another batch expected in the near future, it was an opportunity to bring everyone together in a festive party atmosphere. \u00a0And a party it was!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Fast forward to now&#8230; As staff start to explore the devices and download apps, we hope to capture the learning, the questions that come up, and together\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/digisandbox.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/open-question.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"open-question\" src=\"http:\/\/digisandbox.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/open-question.jpg?w=150\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"70\" \/><\/a>develop understandings of how this device can be used to engage learning and even more importantly, go deeper in the critical thinking and communication process. \u00a0Our new blog called\u00a0<strong>&#8216;<a title=\"IDevices\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/idevices\" target=\"_blank\">idevices<\/a>&#8216;<\/strong>\u00a0is ready to capture these journeys as well as share understandings. \u00a0As well our<strong>\u00a0<a title=\"iUsers Cafe\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\" target=\"_blank\">iUsers Cafe<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0continues to be another forum that is a sharing place. \u00a0Be a part of this journey &#8211; we have no real answers, but we \u00a0have lots of good questions.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s just around the corner?
