Readers’ Choice Award 2024

To celebrate literacy week, primary students voted for their favourite picture book this month. Our winner was They All Saw a Cat by Brendan Wenzel. This wonderful book uses eye-opening art to teach about different perspectives.

 

This year’s Readers’ Choice Award was designed by Janan in Div. 5. The back cover features four more designs by Sapphire (Div. 5), Ashley (Div. 6), Niko (Div. 6), and Riaan (Div. 8). Congrats, everyone!

 

Readers’ Choice Award 2023

To celebrate literacy week, primary students voted for their favourite of three picture books. This year’s winner was The Wall in the Middle of the Book by Jon Agee. This entertaining little book features creative and striking visuals!

This year’s Readers’ Choice Award was designed by Ashley in Div. 6. The back cover features three more great designs by Cameron (Div. 11), Janan (Div. 7), and Jenson (Div. 6). Great job, everyone!

Readers’ Choice Award 2022

Douglas Road held its 3rd annual Readers’ Choice Award last week. Primary students voted for their favourite of three picture books. This year’s winner was The Wolf, the Duck, & the Mouse by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen. This funny, modern day animal fable is available to borrow from our library!

This year’s Readers’ Choice Award was designed by Maya in Div. 6. Congratulations, Maya! It was hard to pick just one design, so the back cover features three more designs by Ashley (Div. 7), Vicky (Div. 7), and Lumina (Div. 6). Great job, everyone!

Readers’ Choice Award 2021

For literacy week this year, Douglas Road Library held the 2nd annual Readers’ Choice Award. Students read three picture books then voted for their favourite. This year’s winner (by a landslide) was Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen! This book is an engaging visual treat, and is available in our library!

Readers’ Choice Award 2020

As part of literacy week, Douglas Road Library held its first annual Readers’ Choice Award. Primary classes read three different picture books and voted for their favourite. It was a close vote, but the winning book was Perfectly Norman by Tom Percival! This is a lovely book with a simple but powerful message about being yourself.
