We have just received our final copies of all of the books for the Battle. Thursday or Friday before Spring Break, Div. 1, 2 and 3 will be meeting to get organized into teams, elect captains and co-captains and hand out the books. You should try and finish at least one book over the 2 week Spring Break period. Students will also be asked to make up a few questions for each of the books that they have read. You might also want to fill in the survey that I am creating for each of the books.
In keeping with our Pink Day theme, Confed Reads 250, sheet 150-200 is very bright pink! You definitely won’t lose it! It’s hard to believe we’re already that far along. I’ve been reading a lot lately, but the Olympics have been quite a distraction.
I am looking about for a good book to read over the holidays. Have any of you read anything that would be intriguing? I tend to like more realistic fiction. I finally read The Great Gilly Hopkins–even though I missed the actual Book Club meeting! It was a great read. You really had to have some empathy for Gilly in her search to belong. I would have enjoyed the discussion of this book as there would be so much to talk about.
Wowwee! I have had so many students complete their first (yellow) reading sheet! If you have been reading and filling in your second, orange sheet, you are probably around 3/4 of the way (or half way down the back side)! There are a couple of classes where almost 100% of the students are participating! Can you guess which classes these are?
Well, the Book Fair is finished for the fall. It will be coming back in the late spring. We had tremendous support from both the parents and students at Confed. I’m still figuring out how much money we actually made–but it looks good! I’ll let you know how I plan on spending it as soon as I know exactly what we made!
Hey! November 12th to the 15th is the Scholastic Book Fair! Be sure to come and check it out!
October 28th is Drop Everything and Read. There will be lots of events happening. Remember to wear your pj’s, bring a pillow, stuffy and a good book! Libeary and I are looking forward to sharing my latest read.
