This program appeals to students who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Might not have the grades to get into UBC<\/li>\n<li>Want to study closer to home for first year for social or economic reasons<\/li>\n<li>Are looking for a smaller campus environment as they make the transition from high school to university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students complete their first academic year at the partner institution. A GPA of 2.8 will guarantee placement in second-year engineering at UBC Okanagan and a GPA of 3.1 will guarantee placement at UBC Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>One of UBC\u2019s highly acclaimed structural engineering professors,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.ubc.ca\/spotlight\/research-in-action\/lisa-tobber-structural-systems\">Dr.Lisa Tobber<\/a>, got her start in a transfer program at Kwantlen.
