It is built on a partnership between BCIT, local biotechnology companies and participating school districts.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Topics include (but not limited to):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>what is biotechnology?<\/li>\n<li>use of micropipettes and spectrophotometers<\/li>\n<li>preparation of culture<\/li>\n<li>cell theory<\/li>\n<li>the role of protein<\/li>\n<li>how genes are turned into proteins<\/li>\n<li>extra-chromosomal DNA<\/li>\n<li>recombinant DNA technologies<\/li>\n<li>diagnosis of disease<\/li>\n<li>treatment of disease<\/li>\n<li>genetic engineering in plants<\/li>\n<li>DNA fingerprinting<\/li>\n<li>monoclonal antibodies<\/li>\n<li>This year, it runs from April 15-19, 2024.
