Due January 13, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Dear Grads,<\/p>\n<p>This info is being reposted to remind you about the Schulich Scholarships for students in STEM. \u00a0Feel free to contact me with questions in B110 or laida.falsetto@burnabyschools.ca.<\/p>\n<p>Best,<\/p>\n<p>LF<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Schulich Leader Scholarships are prestigious entrance scholarships awarded to high school graduates enrolling\u00a0in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) programs at our 20 Canadian partner\u00a0universities. \u00a0Last year, 70% of winning recipients came from schools that had never produced a Schulich Leader before. \u00a0Now in its ninth year, Schulich Leader Scholarships have provided this life-changing opportunity to 370 students across Canada.<\/p>\n<h1>50 Schulich Scholarships are awarded each year:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>25 at <strong>$100,000<\/strong> for engineering<\/li>\n<li>25 at<strong> $80,000<\/strong> for science, technology or mathematics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduate high school or C\u00e9gep in the 2019-20 academic year<\/li>\n<li>Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident<\/li>\n<li>Plan to enroll in STEM at one of our\u00a0partner universities (there are 20 in Canada)<\/li>\n<li>Meet at least two of the following criteria:\n<ul>\n<li>Academic excellence<\/li>\n<li>Leadership (community, business\u00a0or entrepreneurial)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial need<\/li>\n<li>Planning to pursue a career in technology, innovation, engineering, or scientific research<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Not<\/span> planning a career as a medical practitioner or in medical research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How do you apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit an application package with the information below to Ms. Falsetto. Based on the information you provide, the Byrne Creek Scholarship Committee will nominate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">one<\/span> student.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 4\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<ul>\n<li>indicate which universities you wish to attend<\/li>\n<li>indicate your top three achievements (academic or other)<\/li>\n<li>submit a 600 word essay demonstrating why you should win<\/li>\n<li>submit an optional 250 word essay outline extenuating circumstances<\/li>\n<li>submit a short answer to identify where you see yourself in 10 years<\/li>\n<li>submit two single-page letters o reference that include email and telephone contact information for verification<\/li>\n<li>submit a copy of up-to-date transcript<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Deadline to apply to the Byrne Creek Scholarship Committee is <strong>Monday, January 13, 2020. \u00a0The Byrne Creek committee will then determine who will be our school&#8217;s candidate.
