We give people what they need for a brighter future.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 double-col-both no-dropcap animate-item animated fadeIn\" data-animation=\"fadeIn\">\n<p class=\"double-col__blurb p-large\">Beedie Luminaries is a social-profit enterprise designed to help remove barriers to education and provide wrap-around support for promising students who are facing financial adversity. Students who are smart, but constrained by circumstance. Students who are ready to rise above their circumstances and achieve their dreams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 double-col-blurb no-dropcap animate-item animated fadeIn\" data-animation=\"fadeIn\">\n<div class=\"double-col__blurb p-large\">\n<ul>\n<li>50 scholarships in 2019 (pilot year)<\/li>\n<li><strong>105 scholarship in 2020<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>$40,000 per student \/ 4-year undergraduate degree<\/li>\n<li>$15,000 per student \/ 2-year college or trade-school diploma<\/li>\n<li>\u201cStay on Track\u201d student support<\/li>\n<li>Access to mentors<\/li>\n<li>Summer paid internship opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>We are looking for resilient BC students facing<strong> financial adversity<\/strong> who have the <strong>academic readiness<\/strong> to advance their education, achieve their dreams, and <strong>inspire others.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-6 col-lg-3\">\n<h6 class=\"floating-features__feature-name\">1. READINESS<\/h6>\n<p class=\"floating-features__feature-blurb\">Students with academic readiness are prepared. They have healthy learning habits and a drive that will successfully navigate them through school to a career. It sets them up for success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-6 col-lg-3\">\n<div class=\"floating-features__feature-number\"><\/div>\n<h6 class=\"floating-features__feature-name\">2. GRIT<\/h6>\n<p class=\"floating-features__feature-blurb\">Having grit means someone has the resilience and persistence to follow through on their dreams, no matter what life throws at them. Grit drives their decisions and influences their behaviour.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-6 col-lg-3\">\n<div class=\"floating-features__feature-number\"><\/div>\n<h6 class=\"floating-features__feature-name\">3. CREATIVITY<\/h6>\n<p class=\"floating-features__feature-blurb\">Being creative is thinking outside of the box. It\u2019s contributing unique ideas and solving problems. Creative people are daring. They understand that they might have to fail a few times to win.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-6 col-lg-3\">\n<div class=\"floating-features__feature-number\"><\/div>\n<h6 class=\"floating-features__feature-name\">4. EMPATHY<\/h6>\n<p class=\"floating-features__feature-blurb\">Empathetic people understand the emotions of others. They contribute to a healthier society by being sensitive to the feelings of their partners, co-workers, family, friends and the community at large.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-purple\">Residency<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident for at least three years and reside in British Columbia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-red\">Aptitude<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Currently be in Grade 12 and have a minimum grade average of 75% in the most recently completed school year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-yellow\">Intent<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Plan to be a full-time student and use the funding for post-secondary education..<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-blue\">Institution<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Apply to one of the twenty-five BC post-secondary institutions or trade schools.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-green\">Financial Adversity<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Demonstrate your and\/or your family&#8217;s financial adversity, and how it has affected you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4 coloured-list__item\">\n<h6 class=\"coloured-list__header coloured-list__colour-orange\">Engagement<\/h6>\n<p class=\"p-small\">Receive endorsement from your secondary school and a community organization.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.scholarshippartners.ca\/welcome\/BeedieLuminaries\/\"><strong>APPLY HERE!<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications are due Monday, January 20, 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THOUSANDS of BEEDIE LUMINARIES Scholarships for Bright Minds Bright minds are more than grades, and our scholarship is more than money.
