Lam\/BC TEAL ESL Scholarship &#8211; deadline THIS Tuesday, January 31st"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>One scholarship will be awarded to an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>outstanding ESL<\/strong><\/span> student in BC.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Who is eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All ESL students living in British Columbia who are permanent residents or Canadian citizens<\/li>\n<li>international students on student visas are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> eligible for this award<\/li>\n<li>the successful applicant may use the scholarship to register in any program being offered at a British Columbia post-secondary institution. British Columbia post -secondary institutions are defined as community colleges, vocational institutions and universities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>How to apply:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>A short description of the applicant\u2019s life before coming to Canada<\/li>\n<li>A personal essay (original copy signed by the applicant): \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0a. Two pages in length, double-spaced, approximately 500 words<br \/>\nb. Topic:\u00a0<em>How a post-secondary education will enable the applicant to make a positive contribution to Canadian society<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Two letters of reference:a. One from a teacher regarding academic performance<br \/>\nb. One from an administrator, counsellor, coach, sponsor, or coordinator regarding service to others<\/li>\n<li>Documented proof of permanent residency of Canadian citizenship<\/li>\n<li>Grade 8 to Grade 11 transcripts, including records of all English language coursework<\/li>\n<li>Grade 12 program documentation with marks to date<\/li>\n<li>Completed application and supporting documents\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcteal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/2014-Application-Form-for-David-C-Lam.doc\">Click here to download the David C.
