NEW BYRNE CREEK BURSARY! H.E.A.R.T. Bursary
In these uncertain times, Byrne Creek remains certain that the sense of community strengthens the individuals. We are in this together.
NEW BYRNE CREEK BURSARY! 3 x $1,000 H.E.A.R.T. Annual Bursaries
This year, we are starting the “H.E.A.R.T. (Honesty, Empathy, Achievement, Respect, Teamwork) Bursary”. This bursary will award graduates who have overcome adversity and demonstrated a genuine sense of H.E.A.R.T. in the Byrne Creek Community. This award is open to students who have faced challenges such as poverty, health, family issues, personal loss or lack of support and are committed to pursuing post-secondary studies.
The HEART Bursary is different from most other bursaries. Here’s how: The understanding will be that, when the recipients are financially able, they will give the funds back to someone who will benefit from their financial support. This may be done independently or by donating back to this scholarship fund so we can continue to offer this bursary in the future. Byrne Creek believes in the strength of community. It feels good to receive – it feels great to give. The positive ripple effect is immeasurable!
To apply for this bursary, please respond to these questions in less than two pages, single spaced. You are to submit your responses on TEAMS. If you are not part of the Byrne Scholarship Team yet, please send me an email and I will happily add you to the Team.
HEART Bursary Application Questions:
- How have you faced or continue to face adversity and have risen against the odds while demonstrating a genuine sense of HEART in the Byrne Creek community?
- Was there a person, organization or group of people that inspired, encouraged or mentored you throughout this? If so, how did they play a role?
- In what ways might you plan to help support or mentor someone else over the next five years?
- What are your plans if you do not win this HEART Bursary?
You may include up to three reference letters if you wish.
A selection committee of people in the Byrne Creek community will review your responses. This application is due this Monday, May 11th at 6pm.
Please email Laida.Falsetto@burnabyschools.ca if you have any questions.
