Ms. Pavlus’ Art class has done some amazing work in combination with Mr. Dube’s French Immersion class. Here is Ms. Pavlus’ story:
“I usually have students work on an artists bio at the beginning of the quarter. When Mr. Dube said his class was doing an illuminated manuscript project that touched on similar ideas it seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine the two. Students wrote a few sentences about themselves in French and English (and in some cases Polish, Korean, Japanese or any other languages they wanted to translate), and then illustrated them in a style that was influenced by what they had learned about illuminated manuscripts. Because this is a multimedia class they were able to use various kinds of art paper, ink, calligraphy pens, stamps, water colour, oil pastel, and anything else that gave them the look they were trying to capture.”
Beautiful job to all students and teachers involved. Art is truly across the curriculum and all of our learning! Check out the display in the upper hallway by the Art rooms!
