{"id":515,"date":"2017-10-16T13:59:05","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T13:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/alpha-studentservices\/?p=515"},"modified":"2017-10-16T13:59:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T13:59:05","slug":"language-challenge-exams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/alpha-studentservices\/2017\/10\/16\/language-challenge-exams\/","title":{"rendered":"Language Challenge Exams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Are you interested in Challenging a&nbsp;Language&nbsp;that you are already&nbsp;fluent in?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>COURSES OFFERED TO&nbsp;CHALLENGE<\/strong><u><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>French 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>German 11 or 12<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Important Notice for German Language Challenge Exams:&nbsp; Due to consistent low enrollment it has been decided that&nbsp;<u>2017\/2018 will be the last year<\/u>&nbsp;that German 11\/12 exams will be offered.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Japanese 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Korean 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mandarin 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Punjabi 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Spanish 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to complete a Language Challenge Exam, you MUST complete the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/south-counselling\/files\/2016\/09\/Language-Challenge-Exam-Application-2017-18.pdf\">Language Challenge Exam Application (2017-18)<\/a>&nbsp;and fill&nbsp;it out completely\n<ul>\n<li>\u200bYou&nbsp;need to complete pages 9, 10 &amp; 11 online&nbsp;<strong><em>before<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em>you print out the application and bring it to me<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Attach a&nbsp;cheque&nbsp;for $50<\/u>&nbsp;(which will be refunded once you complete the&nbsp;Challenge&nbsp;exam) made out to:&nbsp;<em>Delta School District<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>\u200bYou must also print your full name, school and course you are challenging on the&nbsp;<strong>back<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;cheque<\/li>\n<li><strong>FYI<\/strong>\u2026.If you fail to show up to your exam, then your $50 deposit will NOT be refunded<\/li>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: &nbsp;all&nbsp;<strong>International Students<\/strong>&nbsp;need to submit a $175.00 as a non-refundable fee for exams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Attach a recent,&nbsp;<em>original&nbsp;<\/em>photo of you (can be passport type or school photo)\n<ul>\n<li>\u200b\u200b It&nbsp;<strong><u>MUST<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;be an actual picture picture\n<ul>\n<li>if you do not have an actual physical picture, then go get a Passport photo done and bring one of those<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It&nbsp;<strong>CANNOT<\/strong>&nbsp;be a photocopy of a picture<\/li>\n<li>\u200b\u200bIt&nbsp;<strong>CANNOT<\/strong>&nbsp;include anybody else in the picture (ie; friends, family, pets)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Submit the&nbsp;<strong>COMPLETED&nbsp;<\/strong>Application Package to Ms. Fenn (in Student Services, room C118)&nbsp;<u>no later than&nbsp;<\/u><em><strong><u>Monday, October 23<sup>rd<\/sup><\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Exam dates are either: January 27th or 28th, 2018 \u2013 in DELTA SCHOOL DISTRICT<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/district.public.deltasd.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/09\/ChallengeExamFAQ.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For further information, please see the following link:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deltasd.bc.ca\/schools\/secondary\/challenge-exams\/\">&nbsp;http:\/\/web.deltasd.bc.ca\/content\/schools\/secondary\/challengeexams<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2666<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;<i>All universities in Canada accept our Language Challenge exam marks. UBC accepts Challenge credits for pre-requisite and requirements for courses and second-language requirements but does not accept Challenge marks as part of the GPA calculation for admission.
