{"id":275,"date":"2016-11-28T20:25:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T20:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/alpha-studentservices\/?page_id=275"},"modified":"2017-01-03T21:18:08","modified_gmt":"2017-01-03T21:18:08","slug":"grad-transitions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/alpha-studentservices\/grad-transitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Grad Transitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Ms. Van Duynhoven is the Graduation Transitions Teacher.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>What is Graduation Transitions?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Graduation Transitions process begins in Planning 10, and continues through Grades 11 &amp; 12. &nbsp;<strong>It is a Graduation Requirement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this program is to prepare students for a successful transition to life after secondary school, by encouraging students to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take ownership of their own health and learning<\/li>\n<li>Examine and demonstrate connections between their learning and their future<\/li>\n<li>Create a plan for their growth and development as skilled, healthy, knowledgeable, participating citizens<\/li>\n<li>Exhibit attributes of the BC Graduate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program has 3 main parts<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em><strong>Personal Health Grade 10-12<\/strong><\/em> (Average 150minutes per week)\n<ul>\n<li>Daily Physical Activity (DPA) and a commitment to fitness, personal life management, and physical and emotional well-being are key to health living. &nbsp;In this component of Graduation Transitions, students participate in activities that help them develop the knowledge, attitudes, and habits needed to be healthy individuals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Community Connections<\/strong><\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Life after graduation includes the world of work and community responsibilities. &nbsp;As part of Graduation Transitions, students gain employability skills through meaningful work experience. &nbsp;They also make a positive contribution to the community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Transition Planning<\/strong><\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation Transitions requires students to explore personal and career goals during their secondary school years, and create a plan for life after graduation. &nbsp;Transition planning is an ongoing process throughout the graduation program years, culminating in a final Grade 12 Student Led Interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ms. Van Duynhoven is the Graduation Transitions Teacher.
