They state that students are expected to do the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reasoning and Analyzing\/Modelling<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Develop thinking strategies to solve puzzles and play games<br \/>\n\u2022 Explore, analyze, and apply mathematical ideas using reason,<br \/>\ntechnology, and other tools<br \/>\n\u2022 Estimate reasonably and demonstrate fluent, flexible, and strategic<br \/>\nthinking about number<br \/>\n\u2022 Model with mathematics in situational contexts<br \/>\n\u2022 Think creatively and with curiosity and wonder when<br \/>\nexploring problems<\/p>\n<p><strong>Understanding and Solving<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Develop, demonstrate, and apply conceptual understanding of<br \/>\nmathematical ideas through play, story, inquiry, and problem solving<br \/>\n\u2022 Visualize to explore and illustrate mathematical concepts<br \/>\nand relationships<br \/>\n\u2022 Apply flexible and strategic approaches to solve problems<br \/>\n\u2022 Solve problems with persistence and a positive disposition<br \/>\n\u2022 Engage in problem-solving experiences connected with place, story,<br \/>\ncultural practices, and perspectives relevant to local First Peoples<br \/>\ncommunities, the local community, and other cultures<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communicating and Representing<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions in many ways<br \/>\n\u2022 Represent mathematical ideas in concrete, pictorial, and symbolic forms<br \/>\n\u2022 Use mathematical vocabulary and language to contribute to discussions<br \/>\nin the classroom<br \/>\n\u2022 Take risks when offering ideas in classroom discourse<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connecting and Reflecting<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Reflect on mathematical thinking<br \/>\n\u2022 Connect mathematical concepts with each other, other areas,<br \/>\nand personal interests<br \/>\n\u2022 Use mistakes as opportunities to advance learning<br \/>\n\u2022 Incorporate First Peoples worldviews, perspectives, knowledge,<br \/>\nand practices to make connections with mathematical concepts<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Content &amp; Big Ideas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The content and big ideas differ for each course.
