Time For Beginning Band!

beg bandEach year, the Burnaby School District offers elementary band classes to all grade 7 students. Last year over 1100 students decided to enroll in this fabulous program. If you are interested, please contact your school’s band teacher. The band teacher will discuss instrument options with you. Please do not rent or buy an instrument before talking to your child’s band teacher.

It is very important that students are playing  quality band instruments.  A good guideline is to rent or purchase an instrument only from a store that can also do instrument repairs.

To guide you in your decision, the district is hosting an Instrument Rental Event.

Where:  Byrne Creek Secondary School (gym) – 7777 18th Street, Burnaby

When:   Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

At this event you will be able to choose an instrument for your child from a number of reputable companies that offer instrument rental programs.  This year we will have Long and Mcquade Music, Massullo Music, Matterhorn Music, Tapestry Music and Tom Lee Music attending. The process will take about 1 hour with an additional 30 minutes allocated for your child’s first music lesson.

In advance of this event, please visit the websites of the vendors below for information about the various rental, guaranteed buy-back and term purchase programs available so that you are familiar with each option.
