{"id":69,"date":"2012-02-03T22:35:19","date_gmt":"2012-02-03T22:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/south-languages\/?page_id=69"},"modified":"2016-01-11T10:10:09","modified_gmt":"2016-01-11T18:10:09","slug":"french-12-honours","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/south-languages\/french\/french-12-honours\/","title":{"rendered":"French 12 Honours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">French Honours 12<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prerequisite: French 11 Honours<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>\u00a0(minimum 80% &amp; &#8216;G&#8217; work habit)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Resources: Imaginez textbook and workbook.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students who wish to take French Honours 12, must have received at least 80% in French 11 as well as a &#8216;G&#8217; work habit mark.\u00a0 Honours students are expected to maintain a high standard of performance in all terms throughout the school year.\u00a0 This course requires memorization, excellent organizational skills and study habits, an excellent attitude and a positive attitude towards language learning!\u00a0 Instruction in French Honours 12 is given almost exclusively in French.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Course Description:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this course, students will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete a thorough overview of the material learned in French 11<\/li>\n<li>Continue to develop all four aspects of language learning: reading, listening, speaking and writing<\/li>\n<li>Become fluent in their ability to understand spoken French<\/li>\n<li>Develop a positive attitude towards French culture in Canada and in the world<\/li>\n<li>Develop work habits and skills that encourage self-monitoring and self-motivation<\/li>\n<li>Participate, cooperate and collaborate in small and large groups.<\/li>\n<li>Read <em>Le Petit Prince<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some themes that may be covered are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travelling through the Francophone world<\/li>\n<li>Artists and creativity<\/li>\n<li>Identity, society, and contemporary world issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Evaluation Guidelines<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In language classes, evaluation is ongoing.\u00a0 It is both formative (small assignments graded throughout the course of a unit) and summative (final tests and projects). Evaluation may include assignments, presentations, tests, quizzes, projects, skits, homework, class work, group work and individual assessment.
