{"id":267,"date":"2016-09-25T13:15:16","date_gmt":"2016-09-25T13:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10.155.6.59\/south-counselling\/"},"modified":"2017-09-26T20:14:52","modified_gmt":"2017-09-26T20:14:52","slug":"language-challenge-exams","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/south-counselling\/course-selection\/language-challenge-exams\/","title":{"rendered":"Language Challenge Exams"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Are you interested in Challenging a\u00a0Language\u00a0that you are already\u00a0fluent in?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>COURSES OFFERED TO\u00a0CHALLENGE<\/strong><\/span><u><\/u><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>French 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>German 11 or 12<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Important Notice for German Language Challenge Exams:\u00a0 Due to consistent low enrollment it has been decided that\u00a0<u>2017\/2018 will be the last year<\/u>\u00a0that German 11\/12 exams will be offered.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Japanese 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Korean 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mandarin 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Punjabi 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Spanish 11 or 12<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to complete a Language Challenge Exam, you MUST complete the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/south-counselling\/files\/2016\/09\/Language-Challenge-Exam-Application-2017-18.pdf\">Language Challenge Exam Application (2017-18)<\/a>\u00a0and fill\u00a0it out completely\n<ul>\n<li>\u200bYou\u00a0need to complete pages 9, 10 &amp; 11 online\u00a0<strong><em>before<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>you print out the application and bring it to me<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Attach a\u00a0cheque\u00a0for $50<\/u>\u00a0(which will be refunded once you complete the\u00a0Challenge\u00a0exam) made out to:\u00a0<em>Delta School District<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>\u200bYou must also print your full name, school and course you are challenging on the\u00a0<strong>back<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0cheque<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>FYI<\/strong><\/span>\u2026.If you fail to show up to your exam, then your $50 deposit will NOT be refunded<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Note<\/strong>:<\/span> \u00a0all\u00a0<strong>International Students<\/strong>\u00a0need to submit a $175.00 as a non-refundable fee for exams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Attach a recent,\u00a0<em>original\u00a0<\/em>photo of you (can be passport type or school photo)\n<ul>\n<li>\u200b\u200b It\u00a0<strong><u>MUST<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0be an actual picture picture\n<ul>\n<li>if you do not have an actual physical picture, then go get a Passport photo done and bring one of those<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>CANNOT<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0be a photocopy of a picture<\/li>\n<li>\u200b\u200bIt<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<strong>CANNOT<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0include anybody else in the picture (ie; friends, family, pets)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Submit the\u00a0<strong>COMPLETED\u00a0<\/strong>Application Package to Ms. Fenn (in Student Services, room C118)\u00a0<u>no later than\u00a0<\/u><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong><u>Monday, October 23<sup>rd<\/sup><\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Exam dates are either: January 27th or 28th, 2018 \u2013 in DELTA SCHOOL DISTRICT<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/district.public.deltasd.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/09\/ChallengeExamFAQ.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For further information, please see the following link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deltasd.bc.ca\/schools\/secondary\/challenge-exams\/\">\u00a0http:\/\/web.deltasd.bc.ca\/content\/schools\/secondary\/challengeexams<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2666<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0<i>All universities in Canada accept our Language Challenge exam marks. UBC accepts Challenge credits for pre-requisite and requirements for courses and second-language requirements but does not accept Challenge marks as part of the GPA calculation for admission.
