Stick out in the committees minds, as we receive hundreds of applications<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Organize thoughts and ensure that all spelling and grammar are correct<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>APPLICATION SUBMISSION<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet the deadline --&gt; Applications MUST be post-marked by the deadline date<\/li>\n<li>Ensure your Entrance Scholarship package is COMPLETE (including a recent transcript)<\/li>\n<li>Self-report all of your grades online through the goSFU portal (go.sfu.ca)<\/li>\n<li>Meet with your nominator and referee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">summary of achievements<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Academic Achievements &amp; Distinctions<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2009: NLS &amp; WSI (Certified Lifeguard and Swim Instructor)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2007-2010: \u00a0Honour Roll (Maintained 96% GPA since Grade 8)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Volunteer Experience<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">High School: Tutor (2009-2010: 15 Hours)<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tutored Math 10 to students while explaining and reinforcing core concepts<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hockey: Goalie (2005 - Current: 150 Hours)<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Participates in local hockey team as head goalie. \u00a0We have gone on to win 2 Provincial Championships<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Summer Camp: Volunteer (Aug 2009-2010: 110 Hours)<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Collaborate with staff to prepare activities for children, supervise and interact with children and ensure their safety<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>THE ESSAY<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We receive hundres of applications for the Major Entrance Scholarship Competition each February. \u00a0It's very important to stick out in the minds of the committee members reading your application. \u00a0Be original and creative. \u00a0the most memorable students had something unique to share in their essay, and conveyed their interests and ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Examples of previous Major Entrance Scholarship Winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comic-Books: \u00a0One student did her essay and activities in a comic-book format. \u00a0She spoke about her passion with comics and how she uses them as a communication tool<\/li>\n<li>Hockey Superstar: \u00a0A hockey player who volunteers in soup kitchens and coaches a younger hockey team, all while maintaining high marks in school<\/li>\n<li>Queen of White Rock: \u00a0One application made herself noticed when she explained she was the Queen of White Rock, thanks to her multiple volunteer experiences with the city of White Rock<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The application Provide clear and concise details about your extracurricular activities. \u00a0Ensure that the length, breadth and quality of your experiences are included Pick an essay topic that speaks to you and draws you in Be Original!!
