NELSON CIVIC LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS

Nelson Civic Leadership Scholarships support community-minded student leaders in achieving their educational goals.

Three $5000 scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated academic success, personal strength, and determination in their commitment to civic engagement and leadership

What is Required? 

  • Completed online application form
  • 500–750 word essay detailing your civic leadership activities
  • Minimum 75% average in final year of high school
  • A reference letter from a high school teacher

SOUTH ASIAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The South Asian Family Association offers three scholarships at $1,000 in each of the following categories:  academic excellence, excellence in community involvement, and excellence in fine arts.

Applicants must be Canadian students of South Asian descent, and must apply for only ONE of the categories:

  • Academic Excellence
  • Excellence in Community Involvement
  • Excellence in Fine Arts

JACK FARLEY YOUTH SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Every year the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards.

These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school.

These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia.

Applicants must be graduating from grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation.

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND GEOSCIENTISTS OF BC

The APEG Foundation offers several entry scholarships to British Columbia high school graduates entering engineering or earth science programs at the University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology and the University of Northern British Columbia.

The entry scholarships are awarded on the basis of a combination of factors, including academic standing, extracurricular activities, financial need and a student statement.
