WorkSafeBC STUDENT VIDEO CONTEST

Students in Grades 8 – 12 can participate in the 2015 contest on the theme, “No bullies at work – My right to a safe and respectful workplace”

Develop a creative, original video that can be used in social media, illustrating the importance of respect at work and the right that employees have to be free from bullying and harassment.  .

Prizes range from $500 for first prize to the student and $2,000 to the participating school and down.

SEARS DX DESIGN COMPETITION

Students in Grades 9-10 and 11-12 are invited to participate in the 20th annual Design Exchange competition, in the categories Architecture/Interior Design,Costume Design, Fashion, Graphics, or Industrial Design.

Students may work individually or in teams

Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are $500, $300, and $200.

Available for students entering full-time studies in September, valued at a maximum of $5000 annually and which may be renewed.  

You must have applied to Douglas in order to apply for the scholarship.

The objective of the awards is to assist worthy candidates, for whom the cost of pursuing a post-secondary education would be a serious impediment.

BCTIA TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP

BC Technology Scholarship Program provides grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to work in a tech company, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a technology-related discipline (including Engineering, Digital Media, Product Management, Bio-tech, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Computer Science, and more.)

  • 4 x $1,000 for Grade 12 Graduates entering post-secondary.

Applicant must:

  • Be a full-time student at a publicly funded, BC-based educational institution
  • Be accepted or continuing studies at a BC-based educational institution
  • Be a permanent resident, landed immigrant or citizen of Canada
    (Proof of status will be required before grants will be awarded)
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

C.S.T. CONSULTANTS INC – GURUPARAN AND WINSOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Awarded annually to two Canadian citizens who are academically gifted, well-rounded, and will be pursuing their first undergraduate commerce/finance/business degree/diploma at a recognized post-secondary institution, in or outside of Canada.

This program is aimed at those students whose parents/guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada.

The Guruparan scholarship will be awarded to one successful female applicant and the Winsor, to one successful male applicant.

SCOUTS CANADA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Scouts Canada Scholarship Program provides financial support to members of Scouts Canada entering or continuing in full-time studies at Canadian Universities or Colleges.
All recipients are motivated youth who, with the help of their Scouting experiences have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and a desire to create a better world.
As they progress through life, these skills will be carried with them as they become successful adults in the community. Scouts Canada sees this scholarship program as an investment in the lives of the future leaders of tomorrow.

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated Scouting history, involvement and achievement;
  • Leadership contributions to Scouting;
  • Community leadership and contributions outside of Scouting;
  • Scholastic achievements up to the time of application;
  • Attitude and aptitude

BC SCHOOL SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Dave Gifford Memorial and Zone BCSS Scholarships are offered to student-athletes who have balanced high academic achievement with significant success as school athletes and contributors to their community, and who will attend an accredited Canadian University or College.

The Dave Gifford Scholarship is for one male and one female student who truly excels as a student-athlete. 

Applicants must have competed in at least two BCSS approved sports during grade 12.

Unsuccessful applicants for the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship will automatically be considered for their respective Zone Scholarship.

UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA: President's Scholarship for International Students ($30,000)

President’s Scholarship is awarded to one full-time undergraduate international student. Valued at $30,000, it is one of the most prestigious scholarships at the University of Ottawa.

Applicants must hold a student visa, have a minimum admission average of 92% (or equivalent) and demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to academic and extracurricular activities.

This scholarship can be renewed for the three following years provided the student maintains full-time registration, international student status and a minimum CGPA of 8.5.

The University also provides a one-time award of $1,500 to applicants in second, third and fourth place

The Chancellor’s Scholarship is awarded to one full-time undergraduate international student.

Valued at $26,000, it is one of the most prestigious scholarships at the University of Ottawa.

BCIT PATHWAY TO SUCCESS

$3,000 tuition awards are offered to students in Burnaby who have already applied to BCIT, have a BCIT student number, and will begin their studies in a full time first year technology, technical studies or trade program (excluding Apprentice) by March 31, 2016.

Successful applicants display leadership qualities and responsibility, and have demonstrated that they are willing to work hard to achieve their goals.

GRACE FAMILY NETWORK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Three (3) awards of $500 each for use in the 2015/2016 academic year

Grace Family Network Foundation has established a scholarship fund to award to deserving high school graduates in financial need. The awards are intended to encourage students who are pursuing a post-secondary education and who have demonstrated not only academic achievement but also interest in their communities.

Scholarships will be awarded to three students in the amount of $500. As well, the winning essays submitted by the scholarship recipients will be featured on gfnf's website. Application criteria include:

  • A resident of the Greater Vancouver Regional District
  • Currently registered in Grade 12
  • Criteria: students with outstanding academic and leadership achievements demonstrating financial need
  • Evidence of enrollment or application to a post-secondary school in the 2015-2016 academic year
  • A one page essay on "Planting Seeds of Change"

Priority will be given to students in financial need.
