I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! To start the New Year off, some Intermediate classes will be learning about an old French-Canadian folktale, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Flying Canoe<\/span>, in French <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chasse-galerie<\/span>. They will see a <a href=\"http:\/\/www3.nfb.ca\/animation\/objanim\/en\/films\/film.php?sort=title&amp;id=33071\" target=\"_blank\">National Film Board<\/a> short film version and then hear two versions, one by Roch Carrier and another erroneous one by Eric Kimmel. This will be a critical thinking activity in which they will compare and contrast the three versions and will have to decide how much artistic license does an author have when adapting a traditional folktale.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back to school!
