PAC’s “We Believe in You” Scholarships

Criteria

Your Parent Advisory Council (PAC) offers seven awards of $500 each for graduating students. This award is given to students who can demonstrate a passion and a determination to succeed in their chosen career path, and who plan to pursue post-secondary education.  A grade average of “C” is all that is required.  It is easy to apply – simply write an essay of up 500 words telling us about yourself, your passions, and why you should get the award.

You must have attended Burnaby North for the last 12 months, are planning to attend a post-secondary institution by September and have maintained a minimum “C” average in grades 11 & 12.

Note: all identifying information will be redacted before being reviewed by the PAC committee so the less redaction Ms. Mihic has to do, the better!

PAFNW+ Awards

Criteria

Parkland Refinery has created two scholarships for Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary education.  MUST:

  • Be a self-identified First Nations, Inuit, or Métis woman.
  • Be enrolled in full-time studies (generally 3 courses or more) at a recognized post-secondary institution in BC (letter of acceptance required).

Procedure
  • Scholarship Applicants have two ways to submit their application (for either way, please ensure you have submitted any additional documents to scholarship@pafnw.ca with “2025 Scholarship Application” in the subject line):

    • Submit using our on-line form. (note the declaration of Indigenous Ancestry or Affiliation is included in this form). But remember to email any additional attachments (ie. transcripts, etc.) to us).

Music Parents Council Scholarship

Criteria

The Music Parent Council will be awarding 3 scholarships of $500 each to current graduating students at Burnaby North. These scholarships are for students who have a true passion for music and have been a contributing member of the music program at North. We are looking for students who have demonstrated leadership in the music department and have been active in the school and community.

Procedure

To apply for this MPC Scholarship, you will need to complete a short essay (250 words or less) describing how music has impacted your time here at North. Things to reflect on:

  • Your experiences, passion, and involvement in the music department at North
  • How music has been a part of your high school experience
  • How this scholarship will help you achieve these goals

Note: these awards will be distributed at the year-end concert rather than the school leaving ceremonies. 

Horatio Algers Vocational and Technical Education Scholarship

Criteria

The Horatio Alger Skills & Trades Scholarships are awarded to eligible students in British Columbia.

  • Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
  • Applying or enrolled for Fall 2025 in a vocational or technical certificate program at a government or non-for-profit institution, with direct pathways to employment.
  • Demonstrate critical financial need ($100,000 or less annual net income per family is required)
  • Demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be under the age of 35
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident residing in British Columbia

Technology Impact Awards Scholarship (TIME SENSITIVE)

Criteria

BC Tech is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a technology-related program.

Graduating grade 12 applicants must:

  • Show passion for the technology sector, involvement in the tech community, and desire to leave a mark in the future of technology;
  • Be accepted into a publicly funded, BC-based post-secondary educational institution in a minimum 2-year program beginning September 2025;
  • Be a permanent resident, landed immigrant or Canadian citizen; and
  • Have a minimum 3.4 GPA.

Grace Family Network Foundation Scholarship

Criteria

The Grace Family Network Foundation scholarship fund awards deserving high school graduates in financial need. The awards are intended to encourage students who are pursuing a post-secondary education and who have demonstrated not only academic achievement but also interest in their communities.

  • A resident of Metro Vancouver (applicable municipalites)
  • Currently registered in Grade 12
  • Criteria: students with outstanding academic and leadership achievements demonstrating financial need
  • Evidence of enrolment or application to a post-secondary school in the 2024-2025 academic year
  • essay component:
  • A one page essay on “How have you shown resilience in the face of adversity?” (see application form for more details)

Seaforth PAC Scholarship

Criteria

The Seaforth Parent Advisory Council is proud to be offering a $500 scholarship for École Seaforth Elementary School alumni. At École Seaforth Elementary School, our mission is to provide a happy, safe, supportive and challenging learning environment where our children learn to become compassionate citizens able to contribute in a global community. Requirements:

  • a “respectable” grade point average
  • 500 word essay  demonstrating how the student has provide leadership to younger members of the community and form partnerships with other members of the community. The student will demonstrate that a true leader guides those who need to know, while, at the same time, learns the value in the ability to follow and learn from others.
  • teacher or a school/community official reference letter
  • dates the student attended Seaforth.

Bosa Construction Legacy Scholarship

Criteria

Bosa Construction is looking to award 4 high school students the opportunity to pursue their Carpentry Apprenticeship through BCIT’s top-rated program while working under the guaranteed sponsorship of Bosa Construction.

The scholarship includes:
  • Full tuition paid for all levels of Apprenticeship
  • Guaranteed employment and sponsorship with Bosa Construction

VPABC Scholarship Foundation

Criteria

Do you have Vietnamese Heritage? To advance education by providing scholarships and bursaries to Vietnamese-Canadian graduate high school students and post-secondary students.

The VPABC Scholarship is awarded to student who meets the following criteria:

  • Currently, or will be enrolled in any Public Post-Secondary Institutions or Trade Schools in September of this year.
  • One of the student’s parents must be a Vietnamese descendant, OR the student must have been volunteering in a Vietnamese-Canadian non-profit organization.
  • Achieved a minimum of 3.5 GPA (high school graduate) & 3.0 GPA for post-secondary institutions and trade school.

ICBABC Achievement Award

Criteria

This year, the Indo Canadian Business Association of British Columbia (ICBABC) is proudly celebrating the
22nd Annual Student “Achievement Awards” Banquet on May 23rd, 2025 at Taj Park Convention Centre
and it is with great pleasure that we once again extend an invitation to your students to apply.

ICBABC’s Annual Student Achievement Awards supports outstanding students as they further pursue their academic endeavors at a post-secondary institution. The vision of the awards program is to invest in and develop strong leaders who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, a moral force of character, instincts to lead, and commitment to intellectual and personal development. Students can apply for any of the three categories: Academic, Sports, or Special Needs.
