Alpha Gamma Delta UBC Entrance Award

Criteria

The Alpha Gamma Delta UBC Entrance Award is  for an outstanding all-round female secondary school graduate entering the University of British Columbia – Vancouver in September 2025. We look for students with a sense of purpose who exemplify the values that have defined Alpha Gamma Delta since our founding in 1904.

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women’s organization committed to providing opportunities for personal development, service to others and a lifelong community. Inspired by common values, Alpha Gamma Delta connects, empowers and celebrates our members to lead lives of significance that positively impact their communities.

Selection Criteria
Identifying young women with the potential to lead for a lifetime means getting to know students beyond their academic achievements. The selection process for the Alpha Gamma Delta UBC Entrance Award seeks those who share our values:
1. the pursuit of wisdom
2. developing and prizing health and vigour of body
3. contributing to the world’s work in the communities where we are placed
4. holding truth inviolable, sincerity essential, kindness invaluable
5. possessing high ideals and working to attain them

Conditions of Eligibility
Applicants must:
1. identify as a woman
2. have applied to UBC – Vancouver with the intent to enter their first year of study in September 2025

While we hope applicants will consider joining a sorority at UBC, neither participation in recruitment nor membership in any sorority is a requirement of this award. No applicant, including the recipient, will be given any preference in membership selection during UBC Sororities Recruitment.

 

Public Guardian and Trustee Educational Bursary 2025-2026

Criteria

Each year, education bursaries are available through the Public Guardian and Trustee Educational Assistance Fund. The bursaries are intended to help individuals who were formerly in the permanent care of the provincial government reach their educational goals.

To be eligible for the bursary, you need to be:

  • A former permanent ward of the Ministry of Social Services or
  • Formerly in the continuing custody of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or a Delegated Aboriginal Agency (DAA)/Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency (ICFSA)
  • You must have been a permanent ward or in continuing custody until age 19
  • A high school graduate or equivalent
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in a post-secondary academic, technical or vocational program between September 2025 to August 2026.

between approximately $500.00 and $4,000.00 per year per approved applicant
