NaNoWriMo, short for National Novel Writing Month, is an annual event that challenges participants to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To give a sense of how much that is, here is a list of novels with roughly 50,000 words: Brave New World, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Great Gatsby, The Notebook, Of Mice and Men and Fight Club.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sounds crazy? Over 300,000 writers worldwide participated in 2013. NaNoWriMo is for\u00a0anyone\u00a0<\/i>who has ever even thought of writing a novel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There are no restrictions on genre or topic, and quality does not matter. What matters is that writers end the month with a complete first-draft of a novel. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to get people writing and to encourage them to finish.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0To ensure this, there is an online community to track your progress and to exchange ideas and words of encouragement to fellow writers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
