{"id":882,"date":"2011-01-12T14:06:40","date_gmt":"2011-01-12T22:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/10.155.6.59\/learningtech\/?p=882"},"modified":"2011-01-12T14:06:40","modified_gmt":"2011-01-12T22:06:40","slug":"words-their-way-making-connections-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/learningtech\/2011\/01\/words-their-way-making-connections-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Words Their Way &#8211; Making Connections&#8230;Session1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/learningtech\/files\/2011\/01\/bk_Words-Their-Way.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-883\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/learningtech\/files\/2011\/01\/bk_Words-Their-Way.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Today we started our first of 4 learning sessions on <strong>Words Their Way<\/strong>, by Invernizzi, Bear, Templeton and Johnston.\u00a0 In a nutshell, the program provides a developmental curriculum for phonics\/spelling instruction, while also promoting reading fluency and vocabulary development.\u00a0 Its hands-on approach marries well with what we know about how the brain uses categories to group items for meaning making.
