This first session reviewed some of the basic tenets of Writers Workshop process.\u00a0 Much of the details came from Nancy Atwell’s work.\u00a0 We looked at the importance of setting purpose and identifying what is important to write about.\u00a0 We all have stories to tell.<\/p>\n

Consider the following:
\nWhat<\/strong> I write about (topic)
\nWho<\/strong> I write for (audience)
\nWhy <\/strong>I write (purpose)
\nHow<\/strong> I articulate my message (genre)
\nWhere\/When<\/strong> I do my best writing (style, habits)<\/p>\n

We spoke about diving into “Writing Territories”<\/strong><\/span> (similar – creating those lists of ideas, places, deep memories to provide the “juice of life” to our choices of stories.\u00a0 Sharing your “Writing Territories”<\/em> offers opportunity for your students to be free to include many of their events.<\/p>\n
