This week in Pre-Employment

Math: money math, Reflex math, budgeting, rounding, determine how much money we have in our bank accounts this week. 

English: Reading Milestones. We will begin the novel “Wonder” once semester 2 starts. 

Life Skills: cooking, shopping, Zones of Regulation, Circles, and we will visit the local library.

English: We have finished the novel “I Want to Go Home” and are now working on Reading Milestones. We will start another novel study in semester 2 with the book “Wonder”. 

Life Skills: Zones of Regulation, telling time, cooking and shopping.

One week left before winter break -time sure does fly.

English: We have finished the novel “I Want to go Home” and the students final project was to pick their favourite character and create a sketch of what they think their character looks like. They then had to list 7 characteristics of their character. I am thinking our next book will be “Wonder” and we will also be focusing on Reading Milestones.

Math: money math, budgeting, skip counting, rounding, reflex math

Life Skills: shopping, cooking, responsibilities in the classroom, and Zones of Regulation

Grouse Mountain Field Trip

Hi Parents, 

We just want to let you know, that we will  most likely be postponing the Grouse Mountain field trip this Thursday, December 8 due to the snow storm coming. We may try to go on Monday, December 12th if the roads are clear or we will save it for January. 

November 28 – December 2

This week in Pre-Employment 

Math: Money math, skip counting, telling time, reflex math and determining how much money is currently in our bank accounts. 

English: Students are finishing their dance posters for the novel “I Want to Go Home”. We will then read the final chapter of the book. There is a final project we will begin once the novel is complete. 

Life Skills: Shopping, cooking, Zones of Regulation 

This week we will also be decorating the classroom for Christmas on December 1st.

There will be a couple more field trips in December. I am just confirming dates and will let you all know as soon as I hear. 

 

November 21 – November 25

This week in Pre-Employment 

Math: Budgeting, skip counting, Reflex Math, money math, and looking into our bank accounts. 

English: We have one chapter left in the novel “I Want to Go Home”. The students are continuing to work on their dance posters. We will be doing a final project once the book is done. 

Life Skills: We will be shopping for items to make sandwiches. Continue with Zones of Regulation, Circles and telling time.

Pre-Employment this week

Math: Money math, Reflex math, telling time and budgeting

English: We are one chapter away from finishing the novel “I Want to Go Home”. The students will be making a poster to announce a upcoming dance at camp. 

Life Skills: The students decided to cook quesadillas. We are continuing Zones of Regulations and the Circles Program.

November 7 – November 11

What is happening this week?

Math: Reflex math, money math, skip counting and telling time. Students have had to pay me from their pretend bank accounts for things this week such as forgetting to return a form, not pushing in their chairs and not using their lockers.  Once a week we count our bank accounts to see how much is left and how much have they lost. 

English: Finish chapter 10 and begin chapter 11 of the novel “I Want to Go Home”. The book is slowly coming to and end and the final few assignments include a catalogue, poster and final project.

Life Skills: Cooking, shopping, Zones of Regulation and Circles  

Science: The Chum Salmon are returning to spawn in locations that have not seen fish for many decades. We will learn the life cycle of a salmon and then visit Still Creek in Burnaby on Monday to hopefully see the salmon.

I can’t believe it is November this week. 

Here is what is happening this week

Math: Continuing with money math, budgeting and reflex math. I have implemented a new rule in class which is, they need to pay me (play money of course) $1.00 if they are not using their locker. The money comes out of their individual bank accounts.  

English: We are completing the comprehension questions from chapter 9 and will begin reading chapter 10. The book is getting really good and is sadly almost coming to an end.

This week in Pre-Employment 

Math: Continue with money math and reflex math

English: We are starting to read chapter 8 in the novel “I Want to go Home”.

Life Skills: We have a lot of shopping to do this week. Each student is taking home a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and we are carving them for a contest on Thursday. Students will also be making rice crispy squares for our Halloween party. We have chosen a number of crafts to do as well and we will need to purchase the materials this week for them.
