Hey everyone, September 13th is Roald Dahl Day! Read a Roald Dahl book…my favourite is “Matilda”. Roald Dahl would have turned 100 this year…
Its strange, my older sister’s birthday is the same day as Roald Dahl, mine is the same day as Dr. Seuss and my younger sister’s birthday is the same day as Tamora Pierce (I just ordered some of her books for the library).
Do you share a birthdate with a children’s author?
Division 8 spent Wednesday morning learning about serving size for each food group. To help them visualize how much of each type of food is a serving, students created a 3-D models.
In the afternoon, Division 12 learnt about the basic parts of a flowering plant and the main parts of a flower. Students watched their teacher use a document camera to show how to dissect their flower, then they dissected flowers and labelled the parts.
The results are in!
Gilmore Community School results:
There was no clear winner for Gilmore readers; of the students who voted there were votes for The World in Your Lunchbox; Rescuing the Children and Willie O’Ree.
The Gilmore winner was Ungifted; followed by Summer in the City and Gargoyle at the Gates.
