APRIL 15, 1912 at 2:20 am<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This week the Intermediate classes will be discussing the historical significance of the Titanic disaster, 100 years ago. We will be reading a survivor&#8217;s account of the terrible tragedy. <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capstonepub.com\/product\/9781404871434\" target=\"_blank\">Escaping Titanic: A Young Girl&#8217;s True Story of Survival<\/a><\/em>, by Marybeth Lorbiecki, tells the story of 12-year-old Ruth Becker. Since this is a longer picturebook, we will be reading it in two parts: the first part this week, and the remainder next week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-425\" title=\"Titanic\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/cascadeheights-library\/files\/2012\/04\/Titanic-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There are many excellent websites about the Titanic. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/cascadeheights\/the-titanic\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> for a list.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kindergarteners and Grade 1 students will be reading the new Robert Munsch book, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scholastic.ca\/titles\/munsch\/books\/myroom.html\" target=\"_blank\">It&#8217;s My Room!<\/a><\/em> This is a humorous story about a boy who finally gets his own room, but relatives keep coming over to visit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.scholastic.ca\/titles\/munsch\/images\/bookslrg\/itsmyroom.jpg\" alt=\"We Share Everything!\" width=\"130\" height=\"149\" border=\"0\" vspace=\"6\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE TITANIC SINKS!
