That definitely deserves recognition.<\/div>\n<h3><b>What are the TD Scholarships?<\/b><\/h3>\n<div>Twenty TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school or CEGEP (in Quebec) who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000 and includes:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to $10,000 for tuition per year (for up to a maximum of four years)<\/li>\n<li>$7,500 a year for living expenses (for up to a maximum of four years)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Helping you build connections<\/h4>\n<div>But that\u2019s not all. These scholarships also help you make connections that could last a lifetime, including:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Offers of paid summer employment<\/li>\n<li>Mentorship opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Annual gatherings, networking opportunities and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Two easy ways to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who are in their\u00a0<strong>final year<\/strong>\u00a0of high school or CEGEP (in Quebec); have a\u00a0<strong>minimum overall grade average of 75%<\/strong>\u00a0in their most recently completed school year and have demonstrated\u00a0<strong>community leadership<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdcanadatrust.com\/products-services\/banking\/student-life\/tc.jsp\">Read the terms and conditions\u203a<\/a><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/juno.aucc.ca\/wes\/td_e.html\">Apply online<\/a><\/strong>\u203a\u00a0and mail all of your supporting documents<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>OR<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdcanadatrust.com\/document\/PDF\/banking\/2017-TD-Scholarship-Application_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Download your application here.<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Print and mail your completed application with your supporting documents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>Include all of your supporting documents and\u00a0<strong>ensure that your application is received by November 18, 2016<\/strong>. As well, we require:<\/div>\n<div><strong>1.\u00a0<\/strong>A\u00a0<strong>600-word essay<\/strong>\u00a0describing your community leadership experience. Tell us:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Why you got involved.<\/li>\n<li>How your involvement shows initiative and innovation.<\/li>\n<li>The ways your efforts have strengthened others.<\/li>\n<li>How long you have been involved.<\/li>\n<li>What you think the long-term impact will be.<\/li>\n<li>How your community has affected you.<\/li>\n<li>In addition, include a brief description of the range of your other community activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>2.<\/strong>\u00a0A\u00a0<strong>letter of recommendation<\/strong>\u00a0from your school.<\/div>\n<div><strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0Two\u00a0<strong>letters of support<\/strong>\u00a0from community groups.<\/div>\n<div><strong>4.\u00a0<\/strong>Your\u00a0<strong>academic transcript<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div><strong>5. You also have the option of including:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A 250-word essay (three copies) describing your family and personal life, for example your family&#8217;s employment or economic situation.<\/li>\n<li>A 250-word essay about your life experiences if you have taken a year or more away from high school or CEGEP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>What is \u201ccommunity leadership\u201d?<\/h4>\n<div>We\u2019re interested in hearing from students who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to solving a community problem or making their community a better place. For example, you may be cleaning up the environment, promoting social justice, or fighting child poverty. Check out what some of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdcanadatrust.com\/products-services\/banking\/student-life\/scholarship-winners-2015.jsp\">past scholarship recipients<\/a>\u00a0have done to improve their community.<\/div>\n<h4>How are the winners chosen?<\/h4>\n<div>We carefully review all applications, taking into consideration not only each applicant\u2019s contributions to the community but also their personal circumstances and any special challenges they may have faced along the way.<\/div>\n<div class=\"td-margin-bottom-small\">We then select up to 80 finalists from across five regions:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Atlantic Canada<\/li>\n<li>Quebec<\/li>\n<li>Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Prairie Provinces\/Northwest Territories\/Nunavut<\/li>\n<li>British Columbia\/Yukon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Regional selection panels (made up of prominent community members) then interview the finalists.
