$3000 CGTrader Scholarships: Our life on a spaceship… Deadline December 14, 2018

CGTrader is the largest 3D model platform for computer graphics, virtual/augmented reality and gaming, backed by a strong professional designer community.

Enter the CGTrader Scholarship 2018 challenge to win $3,000 for your education expenses. The best submission will be awarded $2,000 while the two runners-up will receive $500 each.

How to enter?

Write and submit an original essay on the topic “Our life on a spaceship: the future of mankind”.

We want to encourage students to think about how life will change when people are confined to weightlessness in limited spaces. What devices will they use? How will their minds and languages change when notions taken for granted like ‘up’ and ‘down’ or ‘day’ and ‘night’ no longer make intuitive sense? How will their environment look, feel, and operate? Will social structures revert to those of our ancestors when people start living in smaller groups, again?

Requirements:

  • Write an essay on “Our life on a spaceship: the future of mankind”
  • Essay length is 500-1000 words
  • Submit your essay via online form
  • Submission deadline – December 14, 2018
  • The winners will be announced January 4, 2019, on the CGTrader blog and notified directly via email provided upon the registration

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • High school senior, undergraduate or graduate student
  • Enrolled full-time in an academic institution Jan 1, 2018 – August 31, 2018

Helpful tips for a smooth start in university/college from Smooth Space Education!

Dr. Chris Erickson, Ph.D. Founder and Director of Smooth Space Education Inc.

First year can be, and often is, really overwhelming.

Drawing on the experience and expertise of both myself and a group of colleagues – all recognized as outstanding educators – we developed the framework for the Smooth Start workshop. Our work was directed by a central question:

“If you could go back and do it all over, what do you wish you knew?”

After considerable research, we identified the primary areas that trip students up and the methods to avoid those obstacles. The information was packaged into a six hour, one day format and the Smooth Start workshop was born.

We will be offering workshops beginning in the Spring of 2018.
