To that end, the City of Burnaby Bursary Award Program is intended to enhance the future of Burnaby public secondary school students by recognizing leadership qualities, volunteerism, and community involvement, and encourage them to pursue post-secondary education and training.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/alpha-scholarships\/files\/2021\/02\/2021-Bursary-Policy-Application-Form.pdf\">2021 Bursary Policy &amp; Application Form<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>If you would like to be nominated by Alpha for City of Burnaby Bursary, fill out the above application form and return to Ms. McChesney by <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Monday April 26th.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p2\">Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of the City of Burnaby;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Be in Grade 12 and eligible to graduate (within the year of application) from a public secondary school in Burnaby School District 41;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Be accepted to a program of studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada, such as universities, community colleges, technical schools \u2013 proof of registration in a minimum of three courses in a post-secondary institution shall be required before any bursary award payment is made to a recipient;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Preference will be given to a student who has participated in a community program prior to graduating and can demonstrate outstanding community involvement and volunteerism; and,<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Students who demonstrate financial need (family income below $50,000) will be given priority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Burnaby Council recognizes the importance of a post-secondary education in a student\u2019s career pursuits and the value of a well-trained workforce in the region\u2019s continued economic vitality.
