District Scholarship Applications are now available!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To qualify for a District Scholarship you must complete and submit your Personal Profile (through Teams), complete each application that you are interested in and ensure that you submit all additional documents that are required.<\/p>\n

For example: BASES Scholarship requires the following documents<\/em><\/p>\n

(All of which need to be subitted to Ms.Gillam)<\/em><\/p>\n

a cover letter stating why you are a suitable candidate for this scholarship<\/em>
\na copy of your Grade 11 and 12 transcript<\/em>
\nresume<\/em>
\na reference letter(s) to support your volunteer experience<\/em>
\na reference letter(s) to support your leadership in the community<\/em><\/p>\n

You may use the same reference letter for multiple applications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applications\/Documents must be submitted to Ms. Gillam by March 31st, 2022.<\/strong> You can submit through email (prefered) or hand in to Ms. Gillam in Student Servies.<\/p>\n

BASES – <\/strong>The Burnaby Association of Senior Exempt Employees (BASES) Scholarship, worth $1,000, is awarded annually to a well-rounded SD41 \u2013 Burnaby student.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT – BASES SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – BASES COMMUNITY LEADER SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

Chad Turpin Scholarship<\/strong> – The Burnaby Association of Senior Exempt Employees (BASES) has created the Chad Turpin Scholarship, to recognize the contributions to the City of Burnaby by former Deputy City Manager Chad Turpin. Two scholarships worth $1,000 each will be awarded annually to a well-rounded SD41 \u2013 Burnaby student.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA – CHAD TURPIN SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – CHAD TURPIN SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

CUPE<\/strong> – The Cupe Local 23<\/em> Scholarship <\/em>of $500.00 is awarded to one student in each of Burnaby\u2019s secondary schools<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT- CUPE LOCAL 23 SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – CUPE LOCAL 23<\/a><\/p>\n

Dawn Harris Memorial<\/strong> – The scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded female graduating student from Alpha or Burnaby North Secondary School who, while maintaining a good academic standing, has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership skills and has actively participated in the school\u2019s athletic program.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT – DAWN HARRIS<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – DAWN HARRIS MEMORIAL<\/a><\/p>\n

Ted Elphick<\/strong> – The Ted Elphick Memorial bursary is awarded annually to a Burnaby resident who has, through positive will and spirit, overcome physical or mental challenges to graduate from a Burnaby secondary school.<\/p>\n

InterWorld Development Scholarship<\/strong> – Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellence and achievement in a Youth Train in Trades and Youth Work in Trades program and meets the following eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA – Interworld Development Scholarhip<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – InterWorld Development Scholarship<\/a><\/p>\n

Marjorie Jane Stephenson Scholarship<\/strong> -The scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded student who seeks a career in Health Care and while maintaining a good academic standing, has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership skills through voluntary participation in assisting older adults in the community.<\/p>\n

APPLICATION – MARJORIE JANE STEPHENSON<\/a><\/p>\n

Parkcrest Children’s Centre<\/strong> – The scholarship is awarded to a past student of Parkcrest Children\u2019s Centre who is a well-rounded student who, while maintaining a good academic standing, has participated in school and community activities.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT – PARKCREST CHILDRENS CENTRE<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – PARKCREST CHILDRENS CENTRE<\/a><\/p>\n

Pontifex Scholarship<\/strong> -The Dr. & Mrs. A. H. Pontifex Scholarship Award is awarded to a well-rounded student who excels in Science and has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership skills through voluntary participation in school and community activities.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT – PONTIFEX SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

APPLICATION – PONTIFEX SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

RICOH<\/strong> – The scholarship is awarded to a student who, while maintaining a good academic standing has made a significant contribution to the school by demonstrating good citizenship and involvement in school activities.<\/p>\n

APPLICATION – RICOH<\/a><\/p>\n

Burnaby South War Memoria<\/strong>l – The Burnaby South War Memorial bursaries are awarded annually to two deserving Burnaby secondary school graduates who have continually demonstrated the values associated with good citizenship – caring, sharing, responsibility and a willingness to help others.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA SCHOOL HANDOUT – WAR MEMORIAL<\/a><\/p>\n

Neil Sandercock<\/strong> – This scholarship is awarded to a graduating student who has suffered a brain injury or has a developmental or psychological impairment with a disability and has not only risen up against the odds, but demonstrated a commitment to continuing their education. $500 will be awarded to a graduating student from a Burnaby school.<\/p>\n

CRITERIA – APPLICATION -NEIL-SANDERCOCK-SCHOLARSHIP<\/a><\/p>\n

BCIT Pathways to Success<\/strong> – Students must have applied to a full time first year technology, technical studies, or trade program (excluding Apprentice) and have a BCIT student number before being considered for an award. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership skills and\/or additional responsibilities. Examples are: Leadership training\/courses, volunteer and\/or community service, work experience, captain\/president of sports team or group, involvement in extracurricular activities, plays a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise<\/p>\n
