A time will be assigned to your child after applications have closed and all documentation is received. See below for more information.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #0000ff; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Parents will be notified of their child\u2019s assessment date after the application deadline and upon receipt of all documentation required.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Children who attend school in Burnaby (SD41), and who have not already been assessed, will be assessed at their current homeschool sometime between November 25th and December 13th, 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Children who attend a school outside of Burnaby (SD41) will be notified about the date, time and location of the assessment. Preliminary planning has the assessment set for December.\u00a0 <strong>Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the testing site. Due to space limitations, we ask that parents wait for their children at an off-site location.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The purpose of the screening assessment is to gain information regarding each candidate\u2019s cognitive profile. <strong>This\u00a0<\/strong><strong>gives a snapshot of the student\u2019s cognitive profile but is not a full psycho-educational assessment and the results should not be interpreted as such<\/strong>. We will be looking at the results as a screening tool in conjunction with information from the application package. <strong>No one criteria will determine a student\u2019s admittance into the program.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #0000ff; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>SELECTION COMMITTEE:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Application materials will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of school-based and district staff. <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Applicants will be notified of program acceptance by<\/strong> <strong>February 28<\/strong><\/span><\/span><strong>th, 2025 <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>by email<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>*DO NOT APPLY FOR CROSS CATCHMENT SCHOOL TRANSFER.<\/strong> Upon acceptance into a Mini School Program, the student will automatically be granted a school transfer.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BETA Mini School FAQ APPLICATION PROCESS Parents can put forth an application to the BETA Mini School Program for their child online from October 7th to November 7th, 2024.
